Meteor Shower 2012
The next meteor shower is the Perseids on the nights of August 11 and 12
Pioche is the perfect place to view the yearly Perseid meteor shower. We are three hours north of the bright lights of Las Vegas so there is no interference from city glow.
There is a yearly gathering at our local Cathedral Gorge State Park to view the meteor shower. Telescopes not required, but definitely improve your experience. At its best, under dark skies, you might see twenty or so “shooting stars” per hour. The Moon sets by late evening.
